While the fleet was enjoying a Cinco de Mayo weekend cruise at Camachee Cove, other members chose to celebrate the Kentucky Derby in style at our European Village Clubhouse.
As with many PCYC gatherings, there was too much food. There were appetizers, a full luncheon with Kentucky favorites and dessert which featured pecan pie.
The actual race was only about two minutes long, but participants were kept entertained with trivia games, race day scratch off cards and a generous payout for some of those who correctly guessed the horses that won, placed and showed.
There was also a chance to visit with friends and prospective members.
Everyone took time to check out the extensive decorations and admire each other’s Derby Day outfits. Rear Commodore Terry Franklin dressed up as a jockey. There were also fancy hats, frilly dresses, ascots and bow ties.
The prize for best outfit went to Karl Reiser and Deb Royle , seen here with event co-chair Lynn Toben.
