Our 2021 Scavenger Hunt and Picnic was a great event in near perfect weather. Four boats took off on a late Saturday morning with a list of 20 items to spot on local waterways within two hours.
All four teams did amazingly well, although no one saw a manatee or a dive flag during their scavenging efforts.
The team from Iffin won the contest with 90 of 100 points. That was a great way for Barry and Barbara Kipnis to celebrate one of their first voyages on their new boat. The Dream Catcher team called “foul” because they, too, had 90 points. But they were 7 minutes late arriving at our Herschel King Park location, so they lost a point. In the end, they were good sports and congratulated the victors.
The food, catered by Captain’s BBQ, was tasty as usual. Most PCYC events end with many leftovers (not because the food isn’t delicious, but because there’s always too much of it). But on this occasion, people were lamenting the disappearance of the potato salad when returning for seconds.
Our picnics always attract some of our larger crowds, and it’s great to be able to sit around in the fresh air and catch up with each other.
A couple games of Scavenger Hunt Bingo were played. And member Ken Wiles serenaded us with an impromptu ukulele concert.
Thanks to all who participated, especially the captains who welcomed members on their boats.
