Ten minutes before the scheduled time for the 2021 Blessing of the Fleet, there was a steady drizzle and the sky looked threatening. A few brave captains had their vessels standing by in the ICW,along with two Sheriff’s escors. The minister was on the dock holding an umbrella. Then, just at 11 o’clock, the clouds rolled back and the sun came out: Our first blessing.
Reverend Bob Goolsby of St. Thomas Episcopal Church offered a prayer on the radio for those who sail the seas and those who support them.
Then the small contingent of boats sailed by the dock at Yacht Harbor Village Marina for a personal wish and prayer for safe passage and safe harbor.
The Sheriff’s Boats also received the blessing of Father Goolsby.
At Two o’clock Palm Coast Yacht Club members and guests gathered in the meeting area at Yacht Harbor Village to exchange stories and share a meal.
